How to perform the capture session

Step 1: Options

In the options specify, how many video capture devices are used and where to save the images. After doing, a number of white empty video windows are shown.

Step 2: Open and configure video capture devices

A right mouse click on the video controls shows a context menu. "Device" is used to open video capture device, set video format and frame rate.

Step 3: Configure device properties

A right mouse click on the video controls shows a context menu. "Properties" is now used to adjust the camera properties like exposure tiem, gain etc.

Step 3: Configure capture session

Now the video capture devices are configured and their live video streams are shown. In the Options dialog the recording time and trigger options are set.

Step 4: Prepare capture

The menu "Prepare Capture" or hitting the F2 key prepare capture. That means, memory is allocated and if the video capture devices shall run in trigger mode the trigger mode is activated. In trigger mode, the video controls are not updated with new images, until a trigger occurs to the video capture devices.

If IC Express complains about too less memory, then reduce:

On successful preparation the menu item "Prepare Capture" changes to "Save Images".

Step 6: Save images

The images are saved automatically, if the expected amount of images are received. Alternatively, the "Save images" menu can be clicked or the F3 key pressed.

After image saving, the the menu item "Save Images" changes back to "Prepare Capture" and the capture process can be repeated.
